Shoulder and Elbow Surgery

Shoulder surgery has developed into an independent specialist field in orthopedic and traumatological surgery since the late 1990s. Their development is based on three factors: Improvement of diagnostic imaging (MRI and MR arthrography), development of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, reliability of shoulder prostheses, the effectiveness of rehabilitation protocols. The most common shoulder diseases are: lesions (damage) of the rotator cuff tendon, the actual “motor” of the shoulder, ankylosis of the shoulder (frozen shoulder), also known as capsulitis Shoulder arthrosis, centered or eccentric Lesions in athletes: dislocation (dislocation) of the shoulder, dysfunction of the shoulder joint, fracture of the collarbone, fracture of the greater tuberosity (protruding bone on the humerus).

Die Schulterchirurgie hat sich seit Ende der 1990er Jahre zu einem eigenständigen Fachgebiet der orthopädischen und traumatologischen Chirurgie entwickelt. Ihre Entwicklung basiert auf drei Faktoren: Perfektionierung der diagnostischen Bildgebung (MRT und MR-Arthrographie), Entwicklung der minimal-invasiven arthroskopischen Chirurgie, Zuverlässigkeit von Schulterprothesen, Wirksamkeit von Rehabilitationsprotokollen. Die häufigsten Schultererkrankungen sind: Läsionen (Schädigungen) der Sehne der Rotatorenmanschette, des eigentlichen „Motors“ der Schulter, Ankylose der Schulter (Schultersteife), auch Kapsulitis genannt Schulterarthrose, zentriert oder exzentrisch Läsionen bei Sportlern: Luxation (Verrenkung) der Schulter, Dysfunktion des Schultereckgelenks, Schlüsselbeinbruch, Bruch des Tuberculum majus (Knochenvorsprung am Oberarmknochen).

Dr. Taha ist ein im Kantonsspital Aarau, im Bürgerspital Solothurn, an der Uniklinik Balgrist und im Universitätsspital Basel ausgebildeter orthopädischer Chirurg mit Schwerpunkt in Schulter- und Ellbogenchirurgie seit 2013.
